Het Meeshof
Location: De Meeslaan, Delft
Country: The Netherlands
Year: 2024
BSc year: 2nd
As the first design project of the second year of the Bachelor of Architecture at TU Delft, Het Meeshof represents my initial introduction to the field of urban planning. Prior to this project, my experience with urban planning was less developed than my background in architecture. As a result, it was both a challenge and an opportunity to acquire new techniques, drawing styles, and knowledge.
During the nine-week module of the bachelor’s program in which Het Meeshof was created, the assignment was to redevelop an existing neighbourhood focusing on environmental technological solutions.
Het Meeshof was designed to create a public space that not only connects neighbourhood residents but also links surrounding green-blue structures. By positioning the building blocks in a courtyard layout and minimizing the area of paved roads, all available space is concentrated in a park.
The park is designed with environmentally technological solutions to address heat stress and water overflow. It serves not only as a public space with recreational and hospitality facilities, but also as a buffer for local climate challenges.
